Pinup About Town - Planet Hollywood

Oh man I've missed blogging about the hotels we stay at. There is something about staying at a hotel...even if it is for one night.

This month I feature Planet Hollywood, a Cesar's property. Generally, I like to walk the property and take some photos and then check in before the hubs comes to the hotel. This way all the "blogging" stuff is done and doesn't cut into our quality time. However, this was a crazy experience.

First off, Planet Hollywood is attached to a mall - Miracle Mile. I don't mind walking from the parking structure, through the mall and into the casino to get to the hotel check in. But for some reason I decide to pack these over night stays with a tote bag. WHY WHY WHY would I do that to myself?! I have my tote, my laptop bag (don't want to leave that in the car) and my purse. So in short, my arms were about to fall off!! That's okay, I thought, once I get to the front desk, I'll check-in right quick and be on my way. NOPE!

I don't know what the hell was going on that week....a convention? The start of summer? Weddings?? Who knows, but I waited in line to check-in for nearly two hours. Please note: that was not a typo! Yup, nearly two hours of people grunting, groaning and being irritated. Trust me, I get it. However, I also get the flip side too. I used to work front desk at a hotel in Vegas. Someone said out lout to anyone who was listening "C'mon, how difficult is it?" I looked him straight in the face and said "It's not difficult, it's time consuming." He didn't like that. Seriously, I wasn't pleased to be standing in line for that long either. I wanted to get to my room and get my night started....but there I was with everyone else. You could choose to be a jerk or just roll with the punches. It would be easier if everyone sent one person from their party to check in. It would be easier if everyone knew, spoke and understood English. It would be easier if some of these hotels didn't require so much information upon check in....but they do.

Needless to say, by the time that I got through registration and got to my room. I barely had enough time / energy to take pictures. I wanted to get a few pics of me and my outfit. A few pics of the hotel / casino and other various tid bits.....but sometimes life happens. I wanted nothing more than to start our date night and spend quality time with each other.

We started our evening at the Golden Tiki. I got us this Groupon to get our evening started right! We talked, we drank, he gambled and we enjoyed each others company. This was our first visit to this bar, I know I enjoyed it. There is a novelty giant clam that most folks take a picture in.

We didn't stay too long before we headed back towards Planet Hollywood. I had found a pretty good deal on Travel Zoo for Spice Market Buffet. I opted to upgrade us for unlimited wine, beer or "bubbly" - as they put it :) To be honest...buffets are a waste on me. I most certainly don't eat enough to justify the price. But, I thought we'd try it out anyway. It wasn't awful....but it wasn't great either. But...we had dinner and unlimited beer and wine....score!!

We may or may not have had a wee bit too much to eat. So we decided to go for a walk down the strip. While strolling on said walk, we also decided we should pick up something to drink for when we got back to our room. We stopped into a shop and grabbed some vodka and cranberry juice....keeping it simple.

We got back to our room, poured ourselves a drink and we were able to watch the Bellagio water show from our hotel room. We couldn't hear the music, but we also had our own personal show and we didn't have to stand in a crowd. More accurately, I didn't have to try and see over and/or through the crowd - #shortpeopleproblems.

Back in the day, Planet Hollywood was known as a restaurant. There still is a restaurant that you can visit in Vegas. It's at the Forum Shops at Cesar's Palace. I have not been to this particular location, but have been to many when there were all over Southern California. It was known to have movie & music memorabilia. It was actually really cool to check out the real clothing, instruments or objects that stars used in movies, TV shows or music videos.

The hotel has also adopted this decor. The room wasn't particularly big, but was clean and comfortable. The theme of our room was Made In America, a Whoopi Goldberg & Ted Danson movie. I don't recall ever seeing it...so the memorabilia was a little lost on me.

We turned the chair around to enjoy the Bellagio water show

I failed at getting the bathroom photos....but it had a large vanity, spacious bath tub, a stand up shower and a separate toilet room. As usual, I take full advantage of the tubs with my Lush bath bombs. I generally like to do our "staycations" on week nights because it is cheaper. I don't mind that I work the next morning because we only do it once a month. This night I was up until about 3 am. I was super stoked because I only work 10 minutes away....so I was able to really sleep in. Only problem is, my body woke up at 5:30 and didn't want to go back to sleep. Le sigh.

Any hotels you are curious about and want to see a review? Let me know!!

This blog was written while drinking a glass of wine, but I finished it before I could grab a picture....again...le sigh.

Cheers loves!!

Essentially,

Evie xoxo

  1. Good for you for standing up to jerks who don't know that they shouldn't blame hardworking people who things that aren't their fault!

I feel the EXACT same way about buffets and getting my money's worth, so I always stuff myself to the point where I feel super disgusting and then regret my choices, haha. And I've seriously always wanted to go to the Golden Tiki!!
