February Favorites

Another month down....already??? I never believed my mom when she used to tell me it goes by faster when you get older. And yet...here we are in March!

Month two down without buying new clothes. Before I continue, I should clarify when I say "new clothes". This means clothing that is on the pricier side...which is most pinup clothing. And of course, I always pick out the article of clothing that is most expensive. I have purchased a couple of tops from Ross. Nothing over $15 and each item was purchased because I'd find out during the day that I'd be going somewhere that evening and what I was wearing to work was not going to work. Good ol' Ross....I love that store.

Clothing:

Maybe it was because it was Valentine's Day the last time I wore it, maybe it's because this was only the second time I've worn my Jazmin dress. But I absolutely LOVE this dress. The simple elegance of this dress is to die for. Then you add the fitting that hugs you just right....no wonder it's a favorite!!

Book(s):

I love to read. I read everyday. I try to read as much as possible, but life happens and sometimes you can't commit a lot of time. I do commit to reading at least ten pages a day. I do read a lot of e-books in the form of PDFs (so it's easier to read during down time at work) and those pages can get long!! I've been trying to read a book a week....so I've started to divide the number of pages in the book by 7 so I can get the total of how much I'd need to hit my daily goal.

After reading some Harry Potter, I finally got to some books my friend loaned me. I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, We Were One by Patrick K. O'Donnell and American Sniper by Chris Kyle.

I know this is a "favorites" blog post...but I want to address I Am Legend. If you saw the movie with Will Smith....know that it is 100% opposite of what the book is. Maybe it's because I saw the movie first...not knowing it was originally a book....but I much prefer the movie!!! I usually need/want to read the book first, but even if I did, I'm not sure the outcome of book vs. movie would be different.

Anywho - February felt like patriotic reading. I love my country and I admire those who are brave enough to go and fight for our freedom. I poo you not, We Were One had me in tears - Every. Single. Chapter. Sometimes they were happy tears and other times, sad. But man what the media decides we should see is not the case as to what our men and women go through. Along the same lines reading American Sniper was just as intriguing. It was a quick and easy read, but held my interest. There is obviously some very sad parts to the book....but there is some humor in there and you can't help but chuckle to yourself.

TV:

Going to be totally honest here....I tuned into Blue Bloods because I'm a child of the 80s and 90s....I'm a New Kids On The Block girl....all the way, with all my heart! My two loves were Joey and Donnie. I've watched a few shows that Joey was in, but they are short lived and/or small roles. I thought I'd watch one episode of Blue Bloods...but who knew it's a really good show!! They are currently on their sixth season. I highly recommend....especially fellow NKOTB lovers.

Place:

I was fortunate enough to see two concerts this past month - Awolnation and Buckcherry. Both concerts were at Foundry at SLS (formerly Sahara). The venue is just the right size! As little lady, I mean that literally (I'm 4'11 1/2) I find concerts difficult to go to. I want to see what's going on. This multi-tier "room" allows me to be up above the crowd and we were lucky both times to be against railing so no one steps in front of me....booya!! Plus when you are standing in line, you have some fun stuff to look at.

A fun find while standing in line
A great elevated view for this shorty!
Makeup:

Tarte - Tarties in the color Bae:

I was at happy hour with a few gal pals one night and our waitress stopped by and I didn't hear a word she said....I couldn't stop looking at her lips!! I know, totally sounds creepy...but it was the color and the quality. So...before she left I asked her what lipstick she was wearing. And wouldn't you know it, she had it in her back pocket....bless her heart. Won't delve into this too much....it's in an upcoming Tester Tuesday!

It's a thick creamy "lip paint" and I can't wait to show you the pros and cons of this product.

Peter Thomas Roth - 24k Gold Mask:

I'm a sucker for a good face mask. I LOVE slathering my face with goop. I have always had the feeling that they do absolutely NOTHING for me and it's just a ploy for ladies to spend high dollar amounts with the promise less wrinkles, brighter skin, smaller pores....etc., etc. But you know what? I don't care if it works or not. I love the cool on my skin. I love the feeling when it starts to dry. And who knows, maybe...just maybe something in it really works!

Again, not going to get too detailed on this puppy because this is also coming up on a Tester Tuesday. Stay tuned!

My last favorite seems to have been around for a while, but I'm late to the party! It's a product from Lush called Breath of Fresh Air. This is a toner that I incorporate with my daily face routine. My skin is susceptible to acne and let me tell you how much that sucks as an adult. I'm constantly on the look out for things that help my mug.
Living in Vegas, the weather can be questionable from day to day. Sometimes it is windy, sometimes it is muggy. some days are chilly and most days are scorchers! February hasn't seen too much of weather variety, but there was a stint of very windy days....which can do some damage to facial skin. I'm not going to say my skin was saved purely by this product, but I could tell a difference.

People: I wrote blogs about these ladies, but I want to reiterate how wonderful these they all are. Larissa and Shannon who hosted a Pinup Posh Party. Such selfless and good hearted women....love these two!
And of course the lovely Sinthia Sterling for taking time out of her busy schedule to let me interview her for my third installment of Sippin' & Socializing.

Well...there they are, my February favorites. If you have any questions about any of these products, please don't hesitate to reach out. Hope everyone is enjoying the beginning of March!!

This blog was written while sipping:
The very last drop of my three bottles of
Viansa Pinot Noir. No wine glasses were harmed
in the making of this blog.
Cheers!!

Essentially,

Evie xoxo

  1. This is such a great idea for a series, and I love reading about the highlights of your month! That Jazmin dress looks drop-dead gorgeous on you, too! Ross is one of my favorite stores. I used to live a block away from one, which was so bad for my bank account, but so good for my work wardrobe and kitchen!

  2. Oh man...Ross has so many things that I don't need but end up buying because they are a great deal! LOL
